About Us - The Boomer Generation

Welcome to Retirement Solutions 4 Boomers -- a site devoted to assisting individuals of the 'Boomer' generation meet the challenges they face as they transition from career lifestyles to retirement.

My name is Raymond Holt, the owner and sole proprietor of this site. And yes, I too am a Boomer -- of sorts. Born in 1943, my generation was referred to as the "War Babies" in our youth. I retired in 1992 after several careers -- 5 years in the U.S. Navy, 20 years with the Colorado State Patrol, and 5 years as a small business owner / manager.

When I retired, I discovered that the greatest challenge I faced was boredom! Then in 2001 I attended my 40 year class reunion -- reconnecting with people I had grown up with. Most of us had known one another from diapers to graduation gowns. Our High School was very small, mostly because the town we grew up in was very small....

About Us -- The Class of '61

The Holly High class of '61 graduated 44 strong, and most attended the reunion. The "About us" conversation drifted from "What I've done these last 40 years", to "Remember When", and then a new topic that had never been a part of any past conversations--RETIREMENT...

For most, retirement was just around the corner and most were looking forward to having the chance to do some of the things they had always wanted to do, but never had the time or money to accomplish.

We all exchanged email addresses -- of course -- and over the ensuing years, kept in touch. Soon, our little group grew into hundreds as friends and associates joined in.

The flood of emails that filled my inbox every week began to take on a tone of worry and anxiety. More and more of my classmates (and friends) were expressing concerns about retirement incomes and how to stay healthy.

As I had been engaged for several years in Internet Marketing, many turned to me seeking advice and direction in their efforts to do likewise. Some found jobs for minimum wage or below and continued working. But sadly, a fair number were forced to carry on with an income of about half of that which they had been living on when they were employed.

Most struggled with incomprehensible government regulations and programs seeking health care and other forms of assistance. Day after day the stories unfolded in my inbox and I found myself feeling frustrated and helpless as my friends who had worked long and hard to create an economy of prosperity and technical advancements beyond the imagination of any generation to date, were facing their retirement years with incomes barely adequate to keep home and heart together.
