Travel and Recreation 4 BoomersThe modern retiree's travel and recreation 'to-do' list usually includes an ocean cruise or two, visits to a favorite amusement park, a road trip in the 5th-wheel or motor home, a couple of weeks at an exclusive vacation hideaway, or simply spending time reconnecting with family and friends. In these days of rising fuel costs, many are cutting back on their travel and recreation plans, but the appeal of seeing new sights and/or meeting new people are deeply ingrained as a part of our culture. The trips we take may be shorter, but we are all still taking them..!! Many are given to believe that leisure time, or maintaining a post retirement leisure time plan is a 'luxury' they can little afford. Quite the opposite is true. Recreational activities of any kind is as essential to your mental and spiritual well-being as supplementing your retirement income or managing your health. Retirement is the time many Boomers are learning to play once again, and in that playtime, they are expanding their awareness and deepening their sense of self-reliance. The engagement of travel and recreational activities serve to deepen one's sense of self-assurance and self-reliance. Both of which are essential to continuing growth and development. After all, children learn about the world they are emerging into by way of play and adventure, and this journey never ends, so re-learning these skills are as essential to the retiree as they are for children. Travel The journey to far-away places into unfamiliar surroundings is in fact a learning experience. And to encapsulate a learning experience in the trappings of fun and adventure makes the experience even that much more memorable and meaningful. But, at the age of the average retiree these days, there are just some travel experiences that may present more toil and trouble than fun and enjoyment. Therefore, I've selected a type of travel that may be a bit more appealing to folks our age. Travel and Recreation Solutions 4 Boomers Recreation Recreation is simply a 'grown-up' word for playing. But, at our age, there are limits to the kinds of 'play' activities in which we may engage. A bit of pre-planning is required. Therefore, I've selected a program that seems to be perfect for those of us that require a little 'pre-recreational motivation'. Many potential recreational opportunities end up being passed by simply because we didn't know about them soon enough in advance, or more exasperating, because we didn't have tickets to attend.
